High Priestess Meditation

High Priestess MeditationThis High Priestess Meditation will you bring you face to face with the High Priestess. She will offer you advice in order to pass through her gates. The high priestess is a threshold to higher knowledge of yourself and she assists you to be ready for the inner transformations needed in order to create something new in your life.

The mystery of the card.

The High Priestess Tarot card is traditionally shrouded in mystery and many interpretations lead to not being able to put this card into a solid context within your life. Many books offering Tarot card meanings will explain this card in ways such as ‘Trust your intuition, access higher powers, listen to your inner voice’. The problem with this is if you are unsure of what these things feel like in the first place, then it is hard to put the card into action. Tarot is most effective when you experience the card, rather than intellectualise the card.  This meditation will ground your mind around the High Priestess to help you realise exactly what you need to know to make the card applicable to your life journey.

The Script.

‘Find a quite comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed. Close your eyes and relax into your breath.  Relax each of the muscles in your body beginning from the top of you head, your scalp, ears, jaws, cheeks, mouth, tongue, jaw. Relaxing into your neck, shoulders, arms and into the palms of your body. Let go of your entire spine right down into your hips, stomach muscles, legs and into the feet.
In your own time, take 3 long slow deep breaths.
Picture yourself in a room which has a set of stairs going down into a room that has a soft blue light emanating from it. You walk towards the stairs and begin your decent. With each step you take you are letting go of any tension you are holding.
You reach your hand out to the banister and take the first step. You step your other foot down to step 9 and sink deeper. You’re taking step 8 and you see you feet, hear your feet and feel your feet touching each step. You’re taking step 8 and 7 and you are letting go more. You’re taking step 6 and 5 and you notice your breath getting calmer. You’re taking step 4 and 3-going deeper. Your taking step 3, 2 and 1 as you arrive into deep relaxation.
You look around the room where you have arrived and notice you are flooded in blue light.
A voice speaks to you “Hello and welcome. Please take a seat over hear”. You look in the direction of the light and see a beautiful and mysterious veiled woman sitting between two pillars where one is black and the other white. You sense this woman is extremely wise and has much to teach you.
She speaks to you-“I see you have been inspired by The Magician and You have a new idea, or are wanting something in your life that you currently do not have. You must realise that in order to have something new or do something new, you must be willing to get out of your comfort zone and face possible unconscious blocks that may show up within you as you work towards what is wanted.
These blocks have the potential to result in you not taking the action that is needed to go in the direction that you desire. In the first step of your Tarot journey, The Magician gave you some ideas for your future and shows you that you have the tools needed. However, in order to pass through the next gate of personal growth, now is time to face the unknown and bring to light any limiting beliefs you have within,  because it is the limiting beliefs you have about yourself and your life that will stop you from moving forward.
The symptoms of limiting beliefs showing up in your life come in the forms of procrastination, questioning yourself as to how much you really want what you thought you wanted, laziness, self doubt, memories from the past that are holding you back and general fear. These are the real examples of the kinds of gateways you must pass through and overcome in order to get what it is you want. You must find ways to convince your mind that it is safe to proceed forwards, that it is ok to trust your intuition and gut feelings. Not only is it ok, but it is essential. Once you move past these blocks you will gain more self knowledge and access to your intuition than you ever thought possible. So go forth into the world now and begin your new direction, and know that when negative feelings arise there may be a limiting belief lurking around.”
You thank her for her wisdom and advice, rise from your seat and make your way up the stairs again back into the light of day. You feel you have much more to learn from her, but also feel you will probably meet with her again in the future and she will have more advice for you.

When you are ready, open your eyes and take a gentle stretch. Bring your focus and awareness right behind your eyes to ground yourself in the present. If you feel you need to wake yourself up a little more, gently thump your chest while breathing deeply and get your energy circulating faster.’ -End meditation.

  1. I’ve been doing quite a bit of meditation lately. I really like this script. Helps walk me through what to think to uncover some things I would not have otherwise known.

Also it’s very cool to see the tarot card. I had my cards read to me once and I’ve been intrigued ever since.

It was really nice to read the description of a card, since that wasn’t really explained when I had mine read.

    1. Hi Simon, thanks for visiting. I feel the more you know about Tarot meanings (even if you are not a Tarot reader yourself) the more value you will get out of a session you have with a Tarot reader. Ideally they will give you a bit of knowledge of each of the cards, or at least key cards that are particularly important to the overall reading, because then you can take the story away with you more and more easily apply it to your life.

  2. I have been on a spiritual journey for a while now and as I have progressed I have found that Tarot cards can play a key role in that journey.

I have never had a reading done, but the more I research it here the more I find it intriguing and want to try it out.

I just love the information that you have here as you have taken it to a deeper level and I appreciate that.

I am thinking next time I have an opportunity to have a reading done I will take it.

    1. Hi James, thanks for stopping by. Tarot is a great tool for personal and spiritual growth because you are always learning something new about the stories within the cards and how to apply them to your own life. It is always worth following your urge to get a Tarot reading-especially if you have been thinking about it for a long time. I offer email tarot readings from my site here. I offer relationship readings as well as career direction advice, but I also do general readings if you are interested in an overview of what is going on around you at the moment. To be prepared to for a Tarot reading it is best to have some specific questions in mind so the reader can get into more detail about what you are wanting to know and the options available to you.

  3. Compassionate Cosmetics

I was so excited when I found this website! I’ve been practicing tarot since I was 14. Can I recommend a deck? The Mythic Tarot, it’s my favourite. It’s the only one I use anymore, I have this amazing connection with it. Nothing can sever it. I love this site, it provides all the information anyone looking into tarot would need. There’s a lot of misinformation out there but you cleared it all up! Great stuff, bookmarked!!

    1. Hello Compassionate Cosmetics! Glad you liked the site. Thanks for your comment and I will check out the deck for sure!

  4. Hi Liz I’m interested in learning how to become a tarot reader. Do you have any advice for a new learner?

I have a tarot deck but when I attempt to do readings I have to rely heavily on the guidebook. I also have a deck of oracle cads that I end up using more often because it’s much easier for me to decipher. But I would love to eventually become a tarot reader. How did you learn how to become a tarot reader?

    1. Hey Chris, thanks for stopping by. In the beginning you will feel that you need to rely on the book a lot. Even when you are an experienced Tarot reader there will be times you feel you want to refer to a book to refresh your memory. However, the best way to learn to read to start out with is to do a one card reading for yourself each day and write about the card you have drawn and how it relates to your life at that moment in time. This will integrate the meanings into your day to day life and make it more personal for you which will result in having more of an emotional connection with the cards. The writing part of it is really important because it will force you to really sit down and think about it.
The second part of the writing exercise is to put down the Tarot meaning book and really just look at the picture of the card. What does it mean to you? Forget about the traditional Tarot meaning for that moment and just notice what thoughts spring to mind about the card. This is intuitive reading and ideally you want an understanding of both the traditional meanings of the cards as well as your own personal meanings to get the most out of this daily practice.
After you have done a one card reading for a while, start to draw two cards and relate them to each other. Imagine the two cards as a mini story happening in your life at this point in time. After you have practiced this for a while start trying some traditional spreads like a 3 card reading of ‘past, present and future’. You will find that over time you will start seeing the story in front of you as kind of a 3D experience where all the cards will come together into one story for you rather than looking at each card on an individual basis. Hope that helps!

  5. Hal's Review of Body Weighing Scale Ebsite

    Hi Elizabeth,
I must tell you, I really love your site. I don’t think it’s mere coincidence that I stumbled across The High Priestess meditation. Your video with the accompanying transcription on the page is fantastic. The High priestess meditation is a great experience and I will bookmark your site and recommend this to others. I have several friends who are into Tarot, Astrology, I-Ching and Numerology, etc. Perhaps I’ll create a post on my website about your Mind, Body Tarot website.

My site is devoted to baby Boomers, but I actually have a section for Health, Mind, Body and Spirit, so this site would make an excellent topic.

I’ve always enjoyed a good Tarot card reading. Thank you for creating and maintaining this magical, mystical resource!

    1. Hey Hal! Thanks for checking out my site and I really appreciate your kind words! I would love for my website to be featured on your site! Let me know if you want me to write a guest post or anything. Cheers!

  6. I love meditating and I have been using guided meditations for some time now. Thank you for this! I used to have tarot cards, and I’ve really been considering getting into them again. They are just so amazing when it comes to complications in life. If I ever felt stressed or just not good in general, I could consult the cards and there would always be an answer. Granted, it was not always the answer I was looking for, but helped me nonetheless. Thank you for this I will be utilizing this the next time I meditate!

    1. HI Hailey, thanks for visiting. Yes I really like that you can use the cards to help you come to a creative solution to a challenge you might be facing. The symbols and the meanings of each of the cards can spark your imagination off in ways that help you to come to fresh conclusions or a different perspective to a challenge which helps your over all resilience and your ability to draw on your own creativity to approach it in more productive ways. That is what I like most about Tarot cards I think!
